Riverfront North seeks public input

Riverfront North Partnership hosted two open houses in the Northeast to receive feedback from residents.

The Riverfront North Partnership last week held two open houses, one at the Holmesburg Recreation Center and the other at the Bridesburg Recreation Center.

Members of the public were invited to examine and comment on the group’s master plan.

Riverfront North Partnership is the former Delaware River City Corporation, which began in 2004 to transform the riverfront from its industrial, manufacturing and shipping days.

The group’s accomplishments over the years have included opening Lardner’s Point Park, expanding Pennypack on the Delaware and offering nature walks, concerts, yoga, bicycle rides, kayaking, movie nights, a fishing derby and 5K races.

Six miles of trails have been built, with 3 miles to be added over the next four years.

The trails feature water fountains, bathrooms, lighting, parking, bicycle racks, benches, trash and recycling cans, signage, art, picnic areas and fishing and boating facilities.

Riverfront North Partnership is promoting numerous events through the end of the year. The next big one is the On the Delaware Music Festival on June 30 at Pennypack on the Delaware.
